Meet Ashley & Bruce
Where to start?? This a tough one because I believe it started with a German Shephard named rocky at 1 day old back in February 1981. Born into a household with a huge dog, my brother and I new of nothing else. My parents talk of a time my brother and I climbed on Rocky’s back, and when he stood up we fell off and cried. From that day forward he would inch up or not move to avoid hurting us Rocky was a very special dog to me and made it the ripe old age of 11. I have vivid memories of my dad taking Rocky to be put to sleep only to return an hour later in tears with Rocky. It was on the third occasion that he returned alone and it is one of the few times I have seen my dad cry. Now that
story is special to me, but each and every one of you has your own story which will vary in content; but the theme is the same. You shared your live with an animal that became such part of you when they passed they took a little bit of you with them.
The reality is that our world consists of many different types of people and if you’re reading this then you’re my type of person. I have never known a home without a pet and they are as important as our washing machines, but more valuable than even our homes. What I hope to convey in this page is that I understand each and every one of you as you embark on this brave, selfless journey of caring for your pet as they near the end of their lives.
Having never known a home without a pet, with my current home consisting of an XL Bully(controversial) named Bruce and a Salmon pink bird eating tarantula named Betty. I genuinely struggle to understand those that never have and never will share the bond and joy that comes with pet ownership; but if you’re here then that’s something I don’t need to worry about!!
So why was Atypical Pet Crematorium created? It started with a vision to provide pets and their owners with the reassurance and support needed on the worst day of pet ownership, with a simple goal of giving every pet owner the knowledge of choice, hence our slogan ‘your pet, your choice’. There is no magic ingredient, just a desire to ensure that you and your pet are cared for to the highest standard when the day comes to say goodbye. Having worked for a large commercial crematorium previously and having experienced the typical experience (I’ll cover this later) I am in the unique position of experiencing both sides of the coin. I am certainly not going to disclose any information about previous employers and their practices; however, having named my business Atypical Pet Crematorium, its clear that none of their values or practices have been carried forward as ‘best practice’
As the business has grown I have had the pleasure of sharing many intimate moments with wonderful pet owners, and really understanding what they require in that very moment. While no two pets or people are the same, my understanding of human beings enables me to meet your needs at your level and in your own time. I love what I do and feel very honoured to of found something that enables me to provide for my family and help other at the same time.
As a business we strive to be different, push the boundaries and make a positive impact on the world. Every pet and their guardian we care for enables us to nudge forward towards this goal and we home that in time, all pet owners have opportunity to have a painfully perfect experience.
